Ballinesker Beach, also known as Curracloe Beach, is located close to the village of Curracloe and about 6 miles from the town of Wexford. Famous as the beach where the D-Day sequence of the film Saving Private Ryan was filmed, Ballinesker is a sandy beach that has a Blue Flag award. The water is suitable for swimming, and there is a lifeguard during the bathing season. The Raven Nature Reserve, within walking distance of Ballinesker, is of interest to birdwatchers and has a picnic area. There is a wildfowl reserve less than 3 miles away that is a stopping point for migratory birds including geese, swans, ducks and waders. Shops, a restaurant, a bar and parking spaces can be found at Ballinesker, as well as toilets, with a disabled toilet at the White Gap entrance. A wooden walkway suitable for wheelchairs provides access from the car park to the beach. Dogs are permitted on a leash.
