The WindWater Hotel is a moderately-priced hotel situated on South Padre Island’s bayside marina with access to a large variety of local activities. Accommodation is in the form of either double bedrooms, suites or condos with two to three bedrooms. Each unit is provided with a refrigerator and microwave with a fully equipped kitchen n each condo. The suites and condos also feature a balcony or terrace and spacious living areas. The hotel features an outdoor swimming pool, a hot tub, business centre, free Wi-Fi and a laundry room. Equipment for activities such as fishing can be hired from the front desk. Free parking is available. A complimentary breakfast is available in-house and there is an outdoor grill for guests’ use. A number of restaurants are within walking distance as well. Beaches and waterparks such as Schlitterbahn as well as countless marine activities and sights are close to the hotel.
WindWater has the advantage of direct access to the marina so guests can book boat trips, talk a walk up and down the promenade and even have an area open for fishing with equipment rentals available at the hotel.
The two and three-bedroomed condos especially have panoramic views of the water which can be enjoyed from the private balcony or terrace, which are also available in a suite.
The grounds are pleasant overall and guests of the hotel are free to barbeque at the outdoor grill which is a nice touch on a warm day should you not want to stay in the room all day.
The space as well as the food options at the breakfast buffet are a little limited considering the possible number of patrons at the hotel at one time. It might be a good idea to go in for breakfast early or perhaps check what else is available in the surrounding area.
There seem to be quite a few missteps in terms of room maintenance and the repair or replacement of appliances no longer in good shape, etc. Generally the hotel shows signs of aging inside and out as well.
