A three star cliff-top hotel overlooking beautiful Porth Beach in Newquay, Whipsiderry is set on two acres of landscaped grounds and is just five minutes’ drive from Treloy Golf Club. Many of the rooms here enjoy fantastic sea views and there are single, twin, double and family rooms available. Tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer and a colour TV are included in each room. There is a television lounge, a large outdoor patio and an outdoor heated swimming pool here. Other facilities include a children’s play area, a pool room, a large car park and free Wi-Fi. The hotel restaurant serves delicious meals and snacks throughout the day, from locally caught fresh seafood to a cornish cream tea. The well stocked bar provides refreshments for every taste. Just under ten minutes’ drive from Whipsiderry is Newquay Zoo, and the same goes for Newquay Cornwall Airport.
The couple who own and run Whipsiderry, Andy and Lisa, are excellent hosts. Genuinely nice people who really value your custom, they are always happy to chat and make sure you're enjoying your stay.
Considering the facilities on offer at this hotel you actually receive pretty good value for money when you stay here. The restaurant prices are very reasonable and the food is delicious!
Perched atop the cliffs overlooking Porth Beach, many of the rooms at this hotel have lovely sea views. Step outside into the two acres of gardens that surround the property and you'll enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the cliffs and beach too.
This hotel has an old charm about it and little has changed here for many years. You may like this, however you may also see it as being behind the times and old fashioned. Some of the equipment and facilities look and feel old.
One of the big problems here is that the free Wi-Fi doesn't reach to the bedrooms throughout the property. You can use it in the communal areas downstairs, but even then the speed isn't great.
If you are wanting to spend much of your time actually in Newquay, close to the beaches and bars in the town, then Whipsiderry might disappoint you. It's a long, long walk into town, and to be realistic you'll really need to take a taxi or drive yourself.
