A three-star boutique hotel, the Waterhead Hotel is located among the gardens at a lakeside at Coniston, United Kingdom. Rooms are done up in a very colourful way and feature televisions, hospitality trays with tea/coffee making equipments and en suite bathrooms. Few rooms also give a beautiful lake or mountain view. Rooms with four-poster beds feature iPod docks while the suites add living areas. Green lawns from the hotel stretch to the lakefront, which has its own private jetty. Wi-Fi connection and parking are complimentary. It is a dog-friendly hotel. Guests can avail the facilities of laundry, luggage storage and fax. The full English breakfast is served in the quiet restaurant where the guests can enjoy the lovely morning view of the mountain. It also offers an evening 3-course meal, afternoon tea and a Sunday brunch. Waterhead Hotel is a ten minutes’ walk to the Coniston Village. The A591 is only a seven-mile drive from the hotel.

Guests felt that the Waterhead is the perfect place to visit during the Christmas break. With its lovely view of the Coniston Fells, guests enjoyed a good break away from the hectic city life. It was very rejuvenating and refreshing for them. The ambience here is that of a Lakeland hotel, much loved by most of the guests. Guests could walk to the private jetty and pick up a gondola service around the lake.
Guests appreciated the efforts put in to do the rooms in such a colourful way. The basic amenities were kept in mind from the guests' perspective, which was very nice on the part of the hotel staff. Some of the guests travelling with their pets were thrilled to have their pets along with them in the hotel.
All that the guests wanted was a good nights' sleep and a filling breakfast the next morning. Food was excellent with an interesting menu and the guests had a lovely time. The bar area was also very nice.
Few guests found it difficult to take a shower as the water came down in less than a trickle. The hallways were constantly creeking when someone walked up and down, which caused quite a disturbance for the guests in the rooms around.
The Wi-Fi connection is fine in the public areas but non-existent in the rooms. Guests had to keep coming down in order to have access to the Internet.
Mattresses in some the rooms were saggy and needed to be replaced with new firm ones. As a result the sleep quality left a lot to be desired.
