About The Winston Hotel

The Winston Hotel Hotel; near the centre of Southampton, provides a  combination of guest accommodation, impressive surroundings and restaurant and bar features. Many rooms at The Winston Hotel are en-suite; modern in concept and with attractive wooden shutters.  They all include the desired essentials such as beverage making facilities and colour television. The free Wi-Fi in the bar area extends to some of the guest bedrooms.  Parking is also free and the hotel is popular, locally, as a venue for meetings, conferences, social events and wedding receptions. In addition to breakfast, the restaurant offers a dining menu of traditional favourite dishes and a daily ‘specials’ board.  The sports and lounge bars provide areas of relaxation, enhanced as the result of plasma screen televisions. The hotel is about twenty minutes walk from the railway station, Mayflower Theatre, West Park Shopping Centre and the clubs and restaurants of Bedford place.

Super pub grub.

This place is basically an OKish hotel that also serves pub grub. That said, the choice and quality of the food on offer is surprisingly good.

Yes, in an ideal world, rooms could do with updating; but look at the tariff! They are dated but they are en-suite and include all the mod cons expected by travellers today. In the horses for courses stakes, the Winston at least makes it past the winning

Very helpful and welcoming. Even if you roll back in the early hours, there’s a pleasant guy on the door to make sure you get in safely.

They’ve been rumbled This is a pub with rooms.

No way is this a hotel. The pub is the main side of the business with rooms allowed to slide down the scale so they are more like student accommodation. Not all the rooms are en-suite and cleaning standards are charitably described as being indifferent.

No pipe dreams.

The main road outside is very busy and noisy. This starts very early morning, almost coinciding with when the noise from the bar downstairs finishes. To cap it all, the noises coming from the shower and heating pipes have to be heard to be believed!

Strange breakfast policy.

Breakfast is extra, but that’s becoming increasingly common. It’s served between 7 am and 8 am, which seems very early for some guests. Checkout, though, isn’t until 10 am.
