Hotel The Tontine Hotel is a three-star hotel with 52 rooms situated in Greenock, United Kingdom. It is a 200 year old building close to the Greenlock City Centre. Most of the guests felt that the staff members were very courteous and friendly. They were very helpful and made each and every guests feel at home. Many guests found the full Scottish breakfast to be quite delicious. The quantity was good enough to pull the guests through the day. They were never rushed and could eat as much as they wanted to. Guests loved the food served at the onsite restaurant too and the drinks in the bar were very reasonable.
Rooms were kept immaculately clean and well-maintained. As per few guests the beds were ultra-comfortable. Rooms were big enough to accommodate two persons. Bed linen was clean and crisp and towels smelled fresh. Guests were pleasantly surprised to find ample parking space unlike many other hotels where parking is always a major hassle.
The hotel is an easy stroll to the Esplanade, Highlands and town centre. There were plenty of shops around where the guests loved window shopping. Since everything was at a walking distance the guests saved a lot of taxi fare.
Most of the guests were disappointed to find that the Wi-Fi connection was very patchy. It was so erratic and slow that the guests could not even check their e-mails.
The walls of the rooms were not soundproofed at all as many guests woke up in the middle of the night hearing noise from outside. They could hear the other guests laughing, using the toilet and talking.
Some of the guests felt that having blinds in the rooms instead of curtains was a disadvantage. The blinds allowed too much light to enter the room early in the morning disturbing the guests.
