The Library Hotel (Bophut, Thailand)

While not every guest liked the design, with some saying it compromised comfort for appearance, most guests knew exactly what they were booking, and were in no way disappointed. To many, the leading edge and very distinctive design gave them the illusion that they were living more in a dream, than in physical reality.

While this could be considered part of the leading edge design, many guests went well out of their way to indicate that this pool was their favourite feature of the hotel.

While not perhaps mentioned as often as might have been, guests who did comment on the food only seemed to have praise for it. Often mentioned was that the staff would set up dining in multiple places, depending on the weather and other factors, to stop things getting stale.

While the hotel itself is described as the very epitome of calm serenity, the fact is that it is situated on a very busy and lively stretch of beachfront. As a result, the serenity was sometimes broken by noise from surrounding bars and clubs.

This was difficult for guests to express, because the hotel is so unusual in terms of design, but some speculated that the room-rates were perhaps a bit too high. They seemed to reason that, no matter how great the design, a hotel in Koh Samui had a particular room-rate ceiling that shouldn't be exceeded.

While most guests complimented the staff, a distinct minority did bring up service issues which were, in their mind, the result of staff inexperience. To them these showed a lack of the obsessive attention to detail required of any true luxury hotel.
