The Lake Motel provides a cosy and unique base from which one can explore Lake Taupo, the surrounding volcanic terrain or indulging in high-adrenaline sports. Just a five-minute walk from the lake's shore, this smart motel sports a unique retro feel. The six suites and studios have a sixties or seventies flavour to them and include restored furniture such as formica tables, swivel chairs, and old-fashioned radios. They do, however, also include many modern conveneinces, including flat-screen TV with SKY channels and a kitchenette. The Lake Motel offers free Wi-Fi and on-site parking. Guests can make use of barbecue facilities and bicycles. Pets are welcome for a fee. There are a few dining options within a kilometre of the hotel, including the lakeside Jolly Good Fellows, serving wholesome pub food, and The Bantry, a more sophisticated option. There're a whole host of activities within a 15-minute drive, such as the Wairakei Natural Thermal Valley, Huka Falls, Huka Prawn Park, and Volcanic Activity Centre.
