South Beach Resort Hotel (Marblehead, USA)

If you're lucky enough to own a boat, this is one place where you can moor it. With a balcony overlooking the lake, pools to enjoy and relaxing moonlight strolls on the marina, the location is perfect..

Rooms are pleasantly furnished and decorated and are kept in good order by the daily cleaning staff. Outside, the grounds are well maintained and in fact, the entire 8.5 acre site seems to be well cared for, in keeping with the personal attention expected from a family run business.

If there are any safety procedures here, they aren't apparent. In the event of a power failure, it seems that 'some' corridors are not on the emergency lighting circuit - and so are in darkness. Crucially, so are the stairs and the elevator has stopped. Worrying!

The nearest half decent restaurant is several miles away-so there's a real opportunity to plug this gap. Instead, they limit themselves to just providing a very indifferent breakfast with less than impressive products and yucky coffee. Not much 'class' - must do better!

Rooms are dated and the lobby, with no air conditioning, is unbearably hot and quite untidy. You need to watch the 'extras' costs, such as resort fees and the renting of the (*essential) fridge for instance! Vending machine purchases are well out of date. Towels are sub-standard.
