Having a semi-traditional bathhouse and sauna available to use whenever you like - and as often as you like - at no extra charge is a genuine treat. Be warned though: women are not allowed in (nor are men with tattoos).
Reception is open 24-hours; the guest lounge is open 24-hours - even the onsen is open 24-hours. Very impressive.
Because Japanese capsule hotels are (traditionally) aimed at people wanting to stay just one night, guests are required to check-out and remove all items from their lockers after 10.00 each day. This means that, even if you're staying for a several days, you have to clear out everything in your locker and then keep hold of it until you're allowed to check back in later that day (normally around 16.00). Suffice to say, this can be pretty irritating and inconvenient.
The capsules have an array of little buttons and features within them which allow you to entertain yourself and tweak the conditions inside to suit your needs. Unfortunately, all of the signs that explain what the buttons do are in Japanese only!
When all's said and done, this is actually a pretty good - and interesting - place to lay your head for a wee while...
