Santa Barbara Hotel (Miami Beach, USA)

While this hotel isn't technically right on the water, a number of guests were very pleased to find that the property itself is actually located directly across from the sparkling sands of South Beach.

There's no doubt that this hotel puts you right in the hustle and bustle of this famous Miami neighborhood. But while it could be a good find for beach bums, shoppers and bar hoppers, a number of business travelers found it to be equally handy for quick access to the nearby convention center.

For some travelers, it is all about the location and South Beach is not a cheap area. While the accommodation here is basic, many felt that it was decent value for money in a pricey neighborhood.

Insects and bugs can be a part of life in a tropical climate, but unfortunately, there are consistent reports of bedbugs and cockroaches here. Additionally, a number of guests reported that air conditioning was non-existent, which resulted in several stifling and uncomfortable stays. Those who did have AC commented that the units in their rooms were uncomfortably loud. Finally, many had trouble connecting to the property's Wi-Fi.

Travelers have also noted that the staff at this hotel is not as helpful as they could be. Past visitors have reported receiving anything from an indifferent reception to a very rude welcome upon check-in.

By all accounts, rooms here feel old and tired and much in need of refurbishment. In fact, many travelers commented that the property as a whole could do with some serious renovation.
