About Ryogoku View Hotel

Just a five minute walk from the Ryogoku railway station, Ryogoku View Hotel is just metres from Tokyo's palace of Sumo-wrestling: Ryogoku Kokugikan. The 150 en-suite bedrooms come in a variety of styles and formats, including triples, family-rooms, bunk-bed rooms and suites. Each is relatively spacious - for Toyko at least – helped by the bright floor to ceiling windows. The rooms come with balcony and a small table with chairs, as well as flat-screen TV and refrigerator. Ryogoku View Hotel provides free Wi-Fi and has a 24-hour front desk. Guests can sample traditional Japanese cuisine in the onsite restaurant or relax with a drink in the cafe. The Edo-Tokyo Museum, a five-minute walk away, presents the city's history from when it was known as Edo to the present day. Guests can then admire incredible views of the present day city from the Tokyo Skytree Observation Deck, a 12-minute drive away.

Positive Reviews

positive:

Can’t go wrong with the location.

The central station is nearby and the JR station is just round the corner from the hotel. Plenty of places to eat too, including familiar faces such as McDonald’s - and Burger King which opens early morning for breakfast. St Marc Café is adjacent to the hotel + is another great breakfast choice. The hotel breakfast is OK though. There are plenty of restaurants in the vicinity. Chanko Tomoegata is just one.

positive:

The real Japan.

The hotel isn’t in what can be described as the tourist zone. Here, you are more likely to mingle with locals and enjoy an insight into life as it’s lived in Japan. The hotel’s information desk people are very helpful though and will assist with plans and excursions.

positive:

No need to wrestle with the price.

The hotel represents very good value and is kept in good order throughout. The tariff stands up very well to those of nearby competitors. Restaurants and shops are open 24 hours … and the Sumo Stadium is a popular local attraction.

Negative Reviews

negative:

Small rooms.

Rooms, by western standards, are very small and cramped with little or no storage space. The problem is a common one and shared by this and countless other hotels. They’re clean though and the bed is comfortable.Small rooms.Rooms, by western standards, are very small and cramped with little or no storage space. Communication can be a problem. Some do speak it though and if you find one; their English is likely to be very good.Night noise. It’s good that the railway station is nearby … but not at night and throughout the hours of darkness and during the very early morning. There’s a lot of noise coming from that station.
