The staff are friendly and helpful and guests were impressed by being welcomed by name each time they arrived in the restaurant, where the service is good. A good selection of drinks is available.
The walk into town is fairly easy for those who are reasonably fit, so there is no need for taxis. The free parking in the hotel grounds is seen as a distinct bonus.
The old fashioned aspect of the hotel seems to extend somewhat to a lack of efficiency of the Wi-Fi in some areas. A guest who had been unable to obtain a signal in their room found that it was necessary to go down to the lounge.
A guest was disappointed to be served a boil in the bag kipper for breakfast. One bathroom had a shower curtain that needed replacing as it was smelly, and extended its odour to the rest of the room; some rooms were thought to be in need of updating.
