Very welcoming and armed with all the information you need, they are enthusiastic in their wish that you should enjoy all aspects of your visit.

Dog friendly.

This area is a paradise for ‘walkies’ mad dogs. Hardly surprising, then, that the hotel promotes itself as being dog friendly.

Food + drink.

The bar is really friendly and welcoming and whisky drinkers will love the choices on offer. Restaurant food is OK but if it doesn’t appeal to you, try the restaurant just across the bridge. Great value!

Don’t tell the tourist.

If they’ve got a wedding reception here, be prepared for your dining and drinking requests to be sidelined in favour of the cash cow that is the wedding reception.

Lodging a complaint.

Think twice about these so called luxury lodges. Specify the accommodation in advance or risk ending up in a block of terraced former council houses! Luxury, they ain’t!

Location is the winner.

You can’t beat this superb location and it’s this aspect that creates rose coloured glasses in assessing the hotel itself. In the cold light of day, it’s got quite a few rough edges and wouldn’t fare very well in a less attractive environment.
