Woodgate is a low-key B&B and meditation retreat situated in a farmhouse on 22 acres of land at Farm Rye. It is seven miles away from the fishing town of Rye. There are two beautifully done up rooms that give spectacular views of the countryside and are equipped with flat screen satellite televisions, tea/coffee making equipments and real ground coffee/organic teas. En suite or private bathrooms are provided with organic toiletries and hair dryer. Parking and Wi-Fi are complimentary. The facilities at the retreat include holistic therapies, meditation and massages that can be availed by the guests on surcharge. There is an English language course too that can be taken up by the guests coming from non-English speaking countries. The complimentary breakfast cooked here is fully organic and is served in the patio. Woodgate is three miles away from Great Dixter House and Gardens.
Most of the guests felt that since there are only two rooms in the B&B, the level of services offered were very good owing to less crowd. Rooms are decorated beautifully. Since the rooms are on the ground floor, it is very convenient for elderly guests and guests with lots of luggage to move in.
Woodgate is situated in between three towns of Rye, Hastings and Tunbridge Wells, each with its own rich history. Guests loved the beautiful gardens and architecture of the nearby towns. They also visited the 12 Medieval Churches of Romney Marsh and the vineyard. This place is considered to be ideal for walking, relaxing and relishing the British culture. Guests also loved the massages and meditation offered as a part of the retreat facilities.
All the guests loved the spread of breakfast made at home using organic ingredients. It included home-made bread, eggs from the farm and much more. The hosts were very warm and friendly and went the extra mile to ease out any concerns of the guests.
Few guests felt that they would have been more comfortable with blinds on the bathroom windows for complete privacy.
Some of the guests felt that a proper road map and a sign board close by would help them to easily locate the B&B.
Few guests were not too happy with the ritual of having to remove their shoes before entering the building. They felt that the staff should have provided them with slippers in such a case.
