The Victorian granite, Westbourne guest house is a family run, 3-star rated B+B, located close to the attractions and waterfront of Penzance. Rooms are attractively decorated. Single, double, twin and family rooms include en-suite shower and toilet. Tea and coffee maker, Freeview TV, radio, Wi-Fi, hairdryer and DVD player, are also included. Rooms are cleaned on a daily basis. Additional facilities at Westbourne House include ironing, sewing and shoe cleaning equipment. Free off-street parking and motor cycle storage is also provided. The place is run in a very friendly and efficient fashion. Little plusses are appreciated. That little box of much appreciated tissues; something you don't always find. And superior quality toilet paper that, seemingly, very few other establishments supply at all.
Don't get too disappointed by the prospect of a continental breakfast. There's plenty of it, lots of choice and they'll also prepare eggs of your choice to order. They are a dab hand too at catering for any dietary requirements so … just ask!
The service here is very friendly and efficient and it's an easy walk to the sea and to the town centre. Elsewhere, the shower pressure can be an issue, but not here. The shower is consistent and super hot. Many other aspects are equally impressive. All in all, Westbourne House offers excellent quality and value - and something you'd be happy to return to.
There are very few power points in the room, so you can't charge your mobile ... whilst the B+B proprietor pays for the power. Hmm!
En-suites are tiny 'add-ons' with no storage or towel hanging facilities.
Hmm! It's actually quite a hike. It's not all doom and gloom, though. There are nice pubs and eating places just round the corner. Try the Alverne and Bay Restaurants, Thai Moon, Mackerel Sky and The Bakehouse ... with succulent Thai monkfish starter! Popular pubs include the Alexandra Inn, Sir Humphry Davy and The White Lion … so, there's plenty of choice.
