HOTEL UNIZO Osaka Yodoyabashi (Osaka, Japan)

Rooms were found to be modern and cosy. Perhaps most importantly, rooms were kept very clean, and as an added bonus, there were upscale toiletries that guests said were a pleasure to use.

There was nothing not to like about the location of this hotel. Guests were close to the action, and right next to a supermarket and 24-hour convenience store. It was also a one-minute walk to the nearest subway line, which saved guests valuable travel time.

Staff seemed genuinely friendly and eager to please. Many guests commented on the pleasant interactions that they had with personnel throughout the hotel, and would give customer service top marks.

Guests longed for a bit more space in cramped rooms. Some said that accommodation size was comparable to other Japanese hotels, but the majority seemed to feel that it would be a stretch to comfortably fit two people in rooms, with some guests commenting that it was hard to open their suitcases.

While staff tried their best to communicate with guests, it often fell short. Unless you speak Japanese, you should be prepared to have confusing encounters with staff. Or better yet, pack a dictionary.

Fingers crossed that it is fixed by now, but a number of guests stayed during what was likely a mechanical problem, causing rooms to be too hot. If you would rather avoid a temperamental central heating and cooling system, it might be best to look elsewhere.
