The 2-star, budget priced, Trylon Hotel is two blocks away from the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Simply furnished and decorated rooms at the Trylon include air conditioning, refrigerator, free WiFi and flat screen TV. They also include a private bathroom. There is a laundry service and the tour desk furnishes guests with information on the region, including car hire detail. Transfers are also available (surcharge) from the Airport, less than seven miles away. A snack type breakfast is offered, although many guests opt for sampling the first meal of the day at a number of cafes in the area. The hotel provides ‘free tea and coffee’ vouchers for one such establishment. Later, Anar, Urban Masala, Joe’s Pizza and Calle Tacos are in the queue of restaurants eager to serve. The hotel is off the 101 freeway and a 10 minute walk from the Vine metro station.
The hotel is clean, friendly, centrally located and with parking facilities. So, any prior concerns vanish into thin air ... gone with the wind! At night, the hotel is pretty quiet so, with no sound of music or noise, a good night's sleep is assured.
All the essentials are there and working but so too are those little 'extras' that don't always ... 'fit the bill'. WiFi, for instance, is very fast, reliable and better than in many mega bucks charging hotel.
They're extremely pleasant, helpful and friendly ... and well worth talking to about best value activities in this very expensive town.
Rooms are very small + the last guest must have been an 'extra' in 'Planet of the Apes' ... judging by the hairs on supposedly clean towels. It's not just the hotel, though. If it ever had any, Hollywood's glamour faded quite a long time ago; a bit depressing now.
Many rooms have little, if any window space - so they are dark and cell like. Nothing against backpackers, but they are drawn here by really low prices. The truth is that it's over priced, even as a budget hotel. As a 'hostel', it's OK.. So says 'The Witness for The Prosecution'!
If you pay for parking, you should reasonably assume a degree of security. Here, you just pay for a space in what seems to be a very vulnerable area.
