Hotel Treasure Island Resort (Georgetown, Cayman Islands)

Picture in your mind the beaches of the Caribbean and in all probability, your imagination will become reality just a short walk from this resort hotel. The beaches here are ... a dream!

Don't expect the ultimate here. You won't get it! But it is a budget hotel and overall it ticks quite a few requirement boxes.

Cheerful, friendly and helpful. It's well worth opening up a conversation with them as they know where to go - and where to avoid.

Particularly at weekends, the bar is a popular meeting place with numerous visitors, many of whom are inexplicably convinced that they have a talent for karaoke! At other times, sound insulation doesn't exist, so there is a further noise problem from neighboring guests.

This Treasure Island is somewhat tarnished with below standard rooms. Yes, you're paying budget prices, but even the very cheapest place should at least be clean. Here, rooms are small and have that unpleasant, stale air smell hanging around. Bed linen, including duvet, is less than clean and highly suspicious - and the bathroom contains all the remnants (!) from previous guests. Rooms are not a pleasant experience.

It's hit the rocks and scuppered .. with any attempt to make the property appealing to visitors, long since vanished without trace. Any ongoing maintenance and decoration seems to have been discarded years ago, so the place now looks very run down and seedy. This is reflected in some of the inhabitants who contribute to an atmosphere of unease for visiting tourists; hard working people who just want to relax in the sunshine.
