The staff are praised, and were found to be both friendly, efficient and professional, ensuring that this is a hotel that gives good value. Dogs are not normally allowed to stay, but they made an exception for a guide dog.

The food is excellent, and the evening meal provides guests with a good choice. The comfortable rooms are of good size and the peaceful location contributes to a good night's sleep for guests.

Guests who had booked through a third party arrived to find that the hotel had no record of the booking, however the hotel was able to provide a family room. The guests met others who had experienced a similar problem.

Beds in more than one room were found to be nearing the end of their days with springs making their presence felt both audibly and by touch. Being in a comparatively remote location the TV reception is limited, as also is the mobile phone signal.

Guests found that a over spicing had made a dish lose the subtlety of its flavour. They also found that their room and the residents' lounge were cold with poor décor, and it all contributed to a lack of atmosphere.
