About Thistle

Located in Edinburgh’s New Town, near the heart of the city, The Thistle Hotel is set in a historic three-storey Georgian style building on a quiet street. Guests can choose from a single, double, triple, quad or Manor suite. All rooms have en-suites with toiletries, Wi-Fi at a rate, tea and coffee making facilities, desk and chair, TV, telephone, radio and safe. The Thistle Hotel can host functions for up to 20 people sitting or 50 standing, both for family events and parties and corporate functions fitting a boardroom with 12 delegates. All room rates include a continental breakfast while a full Scottish breakfast is available at a rate and served from 7:30am every morning in the dining room. The Manor Lounge Bar is fully licensed and serves a range of malt whiskies as well as beer, wine and other spirits, tea and coffee. The hotel is just 10 minutes walk form the Gallery of Modern Art and close to both the Edinburgh Castle and the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

Guests found that the traditional warm Scottish hospitality was well and truly on show at the Thistle Hotel with helpful and friendly service from the staff on hand.

On entry to the hotel, guests for the most part were welcomed by a clean and tidy reception and hotel room.

Cold Rooms.

Scotland gets pretty cold. Unfortunately the Thistle Hotel, according to guests, hasn’t quite got central heating consistent. Some guests complained that their rooms were too cold.

No Lift.

The hotel is in an old Georgian-era building. Unfortunately there is no lift retro-fitted and this means guests must carry bags upstairs to the second or third floor. Guests with limited mobility should ask for a room on the ground floor.

Some guests felt disappointed to discover that this was a bed and breakfast where only the cold, continental breakfast was included and a hot, Full Scottish Breakfast was at an additional charge.
