The quality of the meals served in the pub attracts positive feedback from guests. The specials available at the weekend seem to go down particularly well. Plus, the service from the staff is good if a little slow at times.
Bar a few minor shortcomings, guests are happy enough with the standard of the rooms offered at the Thirsty Scholar, mostly describing the accommodation as clean and comfy with a decent selection of included amenities.
Although finding the rooms comfortable, guests regularly find that the surroundings were noisier than they expected. The rooms seem like they are subject to noise from the bar. Also, as this is a university town, the streets can get busy and loud at night.
A couple of guests mention that they found parking a little tricky. The free off-road parking is a little way down the street and spaces don't always appear to be available. Loading and unloading your car may be an issue.
While this won't bother everyone, some guests were a little disappointed to have to specify a time slot to eat breakfast. This probably suits business guests more than leisure guests. On the plus side, most guests rate the standard of the breakfast highly.
