Hotel The Shalimar (Miami, USA)

The rooms in the motel are clean and modern. In fact, the style is rather chic as there is no carpet in the rooms but tiles, which makes it feel cleaner. The beds are comfortable and the room is equipped with all the basics you need for a comfortable stay.

Breakfast is included with the room. It's nothing overly fancy but you get orange juice, coffee, bagels, yogurt, and a few other goodies. The service is friendly too!

Motel personnel are very attentive. They also reward you with little extras like leaving your luggage at reception after check-out so that you can explore the up-and-coming area without the hassle of pulling your luggage around. Or, if you inquire about a reservation and nothing is available, they will contact you if something changes. It's nice little gestures like these that make you feel welcome at the hotel.

The motel is nice enough but the devil is in the details. It is situated on the main road, so it's quite noisy if you are on the street side. But it's a motel, which means the door to your room is outside. The walls are thin as well, so you may hear other travelers moving about.

Though the rooms are clean, the appearance is somewhat stoic and ascetic. The tile floor is unusual in a motel or even hotel, so the look can go either way. Either you like it or hate it! Tiles can be slippery as well so you have to take extra care.

You may encounter a smell similar to chemicals in the room. This may be due to the cleaning process or something from outside, but it's not very pleasant.
