The Red Lion village pub in Castle Caereinion has been in the hands of Joan and Richard for many years now. You couldn't wish for a warmer or more friendly local. It's a place for a quiet drink and chat and/or a game of darts or pool. The Red Lion serves evening meals and also does Sunday Lunches. Dishes are simple and straightforward with both meat and vegetarian options. We have 2 comfortable Double En-suite rooms available to guests. Situated close to Welshpool, an old market town of great character which can still boast real, individual, local shops as well as a few common high street stores and supermarkets. Notable local attractions in the area include: Ty Mawr - The Grade I listing of Ty-Mawr, Castle Caereinion, is a significant survival of a medieval hall house. Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway - Castle Caereinion has a station on this line and, in the summer months, the whistles from the steam locomotives are heard echoing along the valley. Powis Castle & Garden - A few miles from our village, is one of the gems of the National Trust. Built of local red sandstone, and standing on a prominent hillside, it commands views over the Severn Valley.
