The Punch Bowl Kendal is a family-owned and run establishment and the atmosphere is warm, inviting and very relaxed. Staff are highly motivated and happy and this comes across in the service and attitude in general.

Rooms are bright and airy with tasteful contemporary décor and furnishings. Rooms are kept spotlessly clean and have a nice, fresh smell to them. The supply of complimentary consumables is also well-maintained and the en-suites, although smaller than some, feature strong showers with plenty of hot water.

The breakfast service is of a very high quality, choices are nice and varied with cooked options sourced from local suppliers and very fresh. There is no strict breakfast time which really goes a long way in adding to the overall relaxed feeling that guests look for and appreciate.

It is quite important to note that there are only two rooms available at the Punch Bowl which means that booking quite far in advance is essential to avoid disappointment. On the positive side, limited accommodation means that service is even more personal and attentive!

As with many old village inns the property is right next to the main road that runs through the area. This road can sometimes get quite busy this can produce a fair amount of noise in the evenings. The road does quieten down later in the evening so it isn't too much of an issue.

A small issue for business travellers may be the limited work areas provided in the rooms. There is a small desk and chair but, on the whole, the accommodation is aimed more at holiday travellers.
