The hotel is situated just a stroll away from the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake, and is surrounded by a beautiful landscaped garden. Thus the location is very calm and pleasant. The hotel also has a rustic touch and quaint decor giving it a countryside feel. Guests said that they loved the hotel and locality because of its convenience and tranquillity.
Guests liked the food served at the hotel. All the meals were very tasty, freshly made and well presented. Though the food wasn't served in huge portions, it was good enough as a onetime meal. The homemade shortbread served with afternoon tea was specifically liked and mentioned by many guests. Moreover, guests also said that they enjoyed their meals even more as they had them in the beautiful garden.
Guests were impressed by the services offered by the staff. They said the staff gave attention to details and never ignored even the smallest concern faced by them. The staff was always helpful and had a friendly attitude.
Some guests said that the location of the garden is very disappointing. It's actually located in the car park and therefore gets very noisy. The noise of the car doors slamming and people gathering near the cars for bidding goodbyes is actually annoying at times.
The hotel as well as the rooms have dated decor and need some refurbishment said a few guests. The rooms are basic and can be upgraded to some level.
Some guests said that the restaurant in the hotel was losing its original charm. Serving food took a lot of time, there was mismanagement in the table bookings and the menu selection was also disappointing.
