The Old Priory is a three-star, family-run B&B located in the market town of Midsomer Norton. Dating back to 1170, it is considered to be one of the oldest houses in Somerset. There are six charming rooms equipped with free Wi-Fi, TVs and tea and coffee making facilities. All the rooms also have en suite bathrooms. Some rooms have four-poster beds, oak-beamed ceilings and ornate fireplaces. The Old Priory has an attractive walled garden with a croquet lawn. It’s a smoke free property and free on-site parking is available. There are two lively lounge bars, one with a large screen TV. Full English breakfast is complimentary and evening meals can be arranged for eight and above people. A37 motorway is three miles from the inn, while the World Heritage city, Central Bath, is 11 miles away.
Guests liked to stay at the inn because of the history associated with it, being one of the oldest house in Somerset. The property had a nice, old-world charm to it, there were ornate fireplaces, ancient stonework, heavy iron studded doors, oak-beamed ceilings, etc. Thus, guests loved this place as they got to experience a unique stay.
As the inn offers an option of booking the entire venue, it's possible to host weddings or parties here. Guests who wanted an ornate wedding found this place ideal. The walled garden gave a romantic feel, and moreover, guests loved the fact that they could do self-catering for the event and cook food as they please.
Rooms at the inn are cosy, comfortable and quiet. The central heating keeps the room perfectly warm. The poster beds are very comfortable and quality linen is provided. Showers in the bathroom are also very powerful. Guests said that the room offered all the advantages of modern day living in a beautiful, old property.
Guests said that there are no good restaurants nearby at a walking distance from the inn. The place where restaurants are located, required the guests to take either the local transport or their cars.
A single guest mentioned that there were connectivity issues with the Wi-Fi, and a few others said that the building had no elevator and it was very tricky carrying the luggage over the curvy stairs.
