The staff contingent at the hotel is quite small and very experienced which helps keep the overall service standards at The Oaks high. Staff members are friendly and very helpful and tend to requests or problems in good time. Restaurant and bar service is also very good.

The Oaks Alnwick presents an overall satisfying experience which is also, in part, thanks to a few other outstanding points that are worth mentioning. The hotel onsite parking is large and well-laid out, the traditional British restaurant menu is well-thought out and of a very high standard and the location is far enough from the town centre to provide peace and quiet and close enough to still be convenient.

The hotel bar lounge can sometimes get quite loud especially on weekend nights which could be a problem for light sleepers or families with young children. Try to book as far from the bar lounge area as possible.

The building is very old and made in the traditional way with a lot of stone. While the overall look is impressive, this much stone can tend to make the building a bit cold.

The showers sometimes suffer from low water pressure which not only affects the volume of the shower, but also creates issues with hot and cold water with sudden bursts of too hot or too cold.
