The Hotel The Newington Hotel is a grade II listed building conveniently located close to York Racecourse. Located almost on the doorstep of York Racecourse it is a very convenient location for racegoers. York city centre is between a ten and 20-minute walk away or the hotel is on a bus route for ease of access. There is a large on site car park for those arriving by car.
The hotel features a private swimming pool, and although small it is usually quite quiet and a great facility to have. The swimming pool is free and there is also a sauna available for a small charge.
The showers are powerful and a lovely temperature. Beds are comfortable and rooms are cleaned to a good standard.
Many guests feel that the hotel is in dire need of refurbishment, both in some of the public areas and also the bedrooms. There have been reports of broken toilets and other maintenance issues and because it’s quite a small hotel these are not fixed quickly enough.

Although a family run establishment guests have been surprised at the lack of professionalism on occasion and have been caught off guard by the way they have been spoken to.
