Easily accessed from the M3, once you're here, the busy town centre is on the doorstep with lots of shops, pubs and restaurants.

The welcome is good and friendly and service from the staff is excellent throughout; including the bar and restaurant where breakfast is also impressive. They are well tuned to the needs of functions organisers and can decorate the reserved areas and arrange tip top entertainment, DJ etc; no problem! Members of staff, generally, are notably top-notch. They are adaptable too and if you want a late sandwich ... and the bar isn't busy ... the barman will go and make one for you. Delicious!

There's always something happening here. The best option, particularly for light sleepers, is to book in to the ‘new' wing of the hotel. It's much quieter.

Room sizes vary in older buildings. Fingers crossed you don't get a very, very small one here. They are tinier than you thought you could imagine … until you see the en-suite. That's even smaller.

Just when you are beginning to feel that you've been charged more than the going rate you'll see that breakfast is … extra! The atmosphere is a bit like an old folks' home. The only difference being that, in the ‘home', the shower probably works and you're unlikely to be asked to fork out cash for food.

.Fellow guests don't have to be noisy for you to hear their every word and function. You kind of expect this in an average standard B+B … but ‘4-star'! No way!
