This is a cosy, charming spot with a theme of World War II aircraft pilots to match the nearby museum. Perfectly situated to use as a base from which to explore attractions of the surrounding regions. Tasty, unique menus change with the seasons and offer a wide assortment of nearly every conceivable type of dish from burgers to fresh fish, desserts and homemade gnocchi. Breakfast is served fresh daily with plenty of high quality hot and cold options. The real log fire and thatched roof contribute to the character and create a pleasant atmosphere. The car park is ample and garden sitting area is serene, and the locals and staff alike work from the moment of your arrival to make you feel like part of the community.

Well-supplied rooms are nicely arranged and stocked with complimentary toiletries, towels, tea and coffee making facilities. Some rooms are singles and others doubles, and most have retained original architectural features. Very comfortable beds.

The hosts and staff here are a delight, giving exceptional attention to detail and superior customer service from arrival to departure. Warm and welcoming, polite and professional.

Some might agree the venue could use a bit of sprucing and a good scrub. Dim lighting, damp plaster, peeling paint and wobbly toilets indicate it's time.

Don't expect to use the Wi-Fi in your room, but you may be able to get connected in the bar area.

Some disliked the bench-style seating areas of the pub and also found their beds a bit too firm. Bring an extra pillow or two if you must.
