Hotel The Imperial (Torteval, United Kingdom)

The evening menus at the Water's Edge restaurant as well as the bar which serves pub-style food is popular with hotel guests and local patrons alike. Many visitors cite the quality and variety of the meals, the view from the restaurant and the overall ambience in both restaurant and pub as a highlight of their stay.

The hotel is conveniently placed right across from the beach, surrounded by footpaths and right outside is a bus stop, so it is certainly a great base for the adventurous souls. If you want to explore the landscape by car, there is also plenty of parking but many guests found it quite an experience to walk along the cliffs or the beach, for example. The bus route includes stops in town and at the airport.

The hotel creates an environment fit for a family trip; children of all ages are certainly welcomed and those under two years old stay for free with cots available on request. Not to mention dogs are allowed at no extra cost and the surrounding area is said by previous guests to be great for walks with them.

Although the building has lots of character in general, the hotel's interior décor tends to look a little tired and outdated.

The bar/lounge does stay open late, particularly over the weekend, so to avoid possible disturbances from music or talking, etc., request a room higher up or on the other side of the hotel rather than above the bar.

As can be expected given the age of the building, there are no lifts on the property, however there are rooms on the ground floor for those with limited mobility.
