You will find the inn to be particularly well-placed for basing yourself during Lakes District exploration, as it is right in the middle of Windermere with good transport connections all round and plenty of dining and shopping in the surrounding streets.
The Elleray found favour with guests considering it is comfortable, reasonably priced and run by friendly and polite owners who will attentively field requests.
What you will find in the bar restaurant is honest pub fare in large helpings, and the bar serves real ales and plenty of other local and imported drops.
A few of those who stayed at The Elleray considered the beds to be uncomfortable and also not the sturdiest they had slept on.
With some furnishings in disrepair, the windows appearing a bit dodgy and the decor also appearing a bit dated, some found the rooms to be needing attention.
A handful of guests reminded that this inn is a pub with rooms, not a gastropub, and the bar can be busy and lively with locals, and those looking for towels and sheets to be changed daily may be disappointed.
