Guests have liked the well-cooked breakfast and the local ales. The range of ales is also excellent. Guests also praised the large portions of freshly cooked meals with heaps of vegetables. Guests have reported that the pub and bar area is very noisy. The bar is open up to one in the morning on weekends and guests occupying rooms above the bar had to spend sleepless nights. The windows could not be kept open and thus the rooms became too hot and stuffy. The room above the bar entrance choked with smoke as the area below is the area for smokers.
Many guests have complained that the house could do with some refurbishment. The decor of rooms and staircase is outdated, and rooms are small and shabby. Broken power sockets, missing bedside lamp, cold rooms, small TV with poor picture and sound quality and poor Wi-Fi connectivity are some other issues reported by guests.
Guests found the bathrooms to be dirty and badly in need of an overhaul. In most rooms the shower was found to be faulty and water pressure was so low that they could bathe with great difficulty.
