The public areas of this hotel are very traditional in style, and you'll find plenty of little touches here and there that speak of the building's past. There is an open fire that's perfect for the long winter evenings.
The hotel has an award-winning restaurant, and it's easy to see why. Everything is top notch and very well presented. You can enjoy all the traditional favourites and a few unusual items from time to time. Guests have also found that the portions are generous.
There aren't that many hotels of this quality that welcome dogs to stay. Many guests have been very impressed by this fact and found that not only were the dogs welcome but treated as valued guests just like their owners.
Some of the waiting staff and people that work the bar aren't the friendliest. They are not bad at their jobs, but it makes some guests feel uncomfortable when staff don't smile or stop for a chat. It feels a little like they are letting the side down as otherwise this is a great place.
The rooms are very comfy but a little small which means that some guests find them a tad overpriced. It's a nice country hotel but not really worth the high price if you value space in your room. Don't bring a lot of luggage with you.
