Tewitfield Marina lies alongside theTewitfield locks on the Lancaster Canal. The five-star accommodation consists of apartments and townhouses. The townhouses have up to four bedrooms and most accommodation units at Tewitfield Marina include a balcony or patio with marina views. They also feature: flat-screen TV with satellite channels and DVD player. There is a separate living area and a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. Boat mooring (surcharge) is available and there is free, private parking. There is an on-site, food-serving, country style pub, with real ale selections. Opposite the complex is Greenlands Farm Village. This incorporates a farm shop which sells homemade and local produce. This section of the Lancaster Canal has 41 miles ... with no locks. Lancaster and the seaside resort of Morecambe are nearby. It is a 30-minute drive to the Yorkshire Dales and to the Lake District.

It's not just appealing to boating fanatics who can't wait to get on the canal, but these apartments and townhouses are an ideal base from which to enjoy day trips to the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District and the Lancashire coast. They are also very conveniently placed, just off the M6.
The boat and barge traffic is a source of fascination for all ages and to find boats ‘parked' immediately outside your marina accommodation, really thrills the kids.
The accommodation is very clean and the kitchen contains everything that the self-caterer will need. It's a big temptation, though, to just go to the pub and have them do the catering thing for you!
It's the site itself that needs TLC … by the bucket load! The impression is that upkeep is virtually non-existent and there is no-one administering the place. Alarms might go off in unoccupied apartments … and they are just left. Maintenance, on quite a large scale is needed to bring the complex up to anything approaching scratch.
The 2 bedroom accommodation seems more spacious than the 3 bed; they've probably created the 3rd bedroom at the expense of living space. It can then, get very cramped; something which isn't helped by a noticeable lack of hanging and storage space.
You are aware of the background noise from the M6 motorway - but only outside. There's no problem inside. Don't rely on the Wi-Fi (*Who comes on holiday to use it anyway!) as the signal can be very ‘wobbly'.
