Hotel Starling Residence Genève (Geneva, Switzerland)
Hotel Starling Residence Genève (Geneva, Switzerland)
About Starling Residence Genève
Popular with business travellers and tourists alike, Starling Residence Genève offers recently refurbished studio apartments; complete with kitchenettes, a few minutes from the centre of Geneva.
Apartments are modern and include a flat screen satellite TV, safe, hospitality tray and workspace. Upgrading to a 'Grand Studio' adds greater space and a sofa bed.
Free Wi-Fi is available throughout, parking is offered for a supplement and the hotel operates a laundry service. There is also a fitness room for guests.
Kierah's Restaurant, within Starling Residence Genève, is operated as a training facility for the Hospitality School of Geneva and opens on weekdays. Two popular Geneva restaurants; Bistro de la Tour and Restaurant le 15 are a 10 minute walk away.
The tram stop outside the hotel give easy access to the city centre, train station and airport. Further afield, the Swiss Alps and Lake Geneva can be reached within an hour.
Each apartment, regardless of whether you opt for a 'classic', 'superior' or 'grand' studio, is spacious and well-equipped with comfortable beds, a good workspace, and simple but useful kitchenette; complete with fridge/freezer, microwave and hob. Staff can point you in the direction of a nearby supermarket to stock your shelves.
positive:
Professional, attentive staff.
Being run, largely, by students of the Hospitality School of Geneva, you might expect a lower standard of customer service than a traditional hotel. However, most guests find the exact opposite; staff are said to be professional, efficient, friendly and attentive to guest needs.
positive:
Convenient location.
With a tram stop located directly outside the front entrance, and a transport card for free access to public transport throughout the City issued by reception on arrival, the Starling Residence Genève offers a convenient location for exploring all Geneva has to offer.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Air conditioning requires attention.
Previous guests suggest the air conditioning in the apartments requires some attention; while some have said that rooms are excessively warm even when the units are running, others, whose units apparently do cool their rooms, have had disturbed nights of sleep thanks to the loud running noise.
negative:
Wi-Fi intermittent at best.
There is some suggestion that the Wi-Fi at the hotel is due for an upgrade in the near future and, for many guests, this can't come soon enough. For a hotel purporting to be suitable for business travellers, the Wi-Fi at present is slow and unreliable.
negative:
Reception not operational 24/7.
Reception at Starling Residence Genève is not in operation 24-hours a day and so, if you are likely to arrive late in the evening, you'll need to request a code for access to the premises; not the friendly welcome most guests expect.
