Stahlecker House is a family-run B&B in the wine-making region of Napa. Set in 1.5 acres of land, the guest-house was renovated from a 1940s bakery and has many character features. Each room has a fireplace, air conditioning, private bathroom, TV and, while some rooms have canopy beds, others have a private patio and whirlpool bath. Parking is free, as is Wi-Fi, and there is a guest lounge with library, games and a coffee and tea service. Stahlecker House's extensive grounds feature flower beds and picnic areas. Cooked breakfast is provided daily, and there are numerous options for dining locally, including; Oenotri for Italian, Zuzu for Tapas and Morimoto Napa for Japanese cuisine. Access to the Napa Wine Train is a seven-minute drive away and, while the John F Kennedy Memorial Park is five-miles away, the Scientopia Discovery Centre and Quent Cordair Fine Art Gallery are also within easy reach.
If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, Stahlecker House might fit the bill. The bed and breakfast enjoys a peaceful location and, while the grounds are ideal for a wander in Summer, you can cosy up in front of the fire in the lounge in Winter. Deer and many varieties of birds are regular visitors to the well-kept gardens.
There is plenty to do in the area. Previous guests highly recommend the Napa Wine Train, which takes visitors on a journey, visiting many of the vineyards, enjoying lunch and wines as they go. There are also plenty of shops and restaurants in the vicinity.
The bed and breakfast is owned by a family who have lived in Napa for many years, and it shows. Many guests have commented on how it feels more like staying with friends than at a guest house, and the hosts are more than happy to impart knowledge on the best places to dine or visit nearby.
Some guests have commented that rooms are a little on the small side. There is also some suggestion that, while homely, some modernisation would go a long way.
