The location of The Stags Head can’t be faulted. It is only a two-minute walk into Bowness-On-Windermere’s town centre, where guests can take a look round the quaint shops, while Lake Windermere is only minutes away on foot. ‘The World of Beatrix Potter’ exhibition, a celebration of the life of the famous children’s author, is only moments away too.
Staff at The Stags Head are the subject of generally positive reports. The expression that frequently comes up is “friendly and helpful”, which is pretty much what any guest would hope for when they stay at any hotel.
Guests should expect the hotel they are staying in to be clean and tidy, but even so it must be saying something when guests repeatedly remark on the good standards of cleanliness. The Stags Head gets a big thumbs up on this front.
While The Stags Head is described as clean and tidy, that’s not to say that it is not in need of freshening up. The fixtures and fittings are reported to be a bit tired, with among other things some curtains looking worn and in need of replacing, and some drawer-fronts having come loose.
The Stags Head do not provide free parking. There is some parking available a short distance away, but guests report that it is still difficult to find parking space in a town that is notorious for being over-crowded with cars.
The Stags Head warn guests in advance that the pub has a late licence, meaning it will be noisy late into the night, but some guests have still not been prepared for how noisy it is. This has meant a negative experience for some guests.
