The famous historic Greystoke Castle provides a breath-taking backdrop to a stay at Stafford House Penrith. The Lake District enjoys a long history and is well-known for many famous historic sites including the mysterious Mayburgh Henge and a number of stone castles dating back centuries including Brougham Castle, Penrith Castle, Lowther Castle and of course, Greystoke Castle itself.
The building that Stafford House occupies is a grade 11 listed folly and much of the original architecture such as the massive oak support beams and stone fireplaces are all part of the décor throughout the property. Guests can enjoy a true sense of history whilst still enjoying modern touches throughout.
The guest house is very easy to get to thanks to its close proximity to the M6 Motorway. This is the ideal country getaway to the Lake District and is secluded enough to provide peace and quiet with plenty of nature trails for walking or mountain biking.
Not all the of the guest rooms have their own en-suite facilities. There are two double bed guest rooms with en-suite facilities and a twin room and double room that share a bathroom with shower. Guests who prefer their own private bathrooms should ensure that their booking reflects this.
Naturally when there is a shared bathroom situation there is a chance that the hot water supply runs out. This is more of an issue during peak season with guest sometimes having to wait for the hot water supply to replenish.
Guests travelling with dogs (or any other pets) may not allow their pets into the main house as pets are only permitted in the lodges.
