Hotel Skanste (Riga, Latvia)

Skanste is said to be just minutes away from Riga Arena for those visiting for a concert, while the hotel is reportedly located in a quiet, but central part of the city. On that note, some guests mentioned that the Riga Old Town was within walking distance for those up for a stroll.

Guests said the staff here was generally very good — providing friendly, professional and service on reception — although a few people said they met staff members who, to the contrary, were not much help at all.

The breakfasts, parking and Wi-Fi were popular for the fact that they were free; with the first of these offering a simple but adequate array of continental foodstuffs, including eggs, breads, cheese; and the latter occasionally not working too well. Furthermore, guests said they found simple, well-heated rooms at cheap prices, with low expectations generally easily met.

Some of those who stayed at Skanste considered their rooms less than spotless; reporting dirty carpet, some amounts of dust present, a small amount of bathroom mould, and the occasional instance in which the sheets were not the cleanest.

The furniture here was mentioned by some as being in a bad condition, with other furnishings and the rooms in general sometimes being described as dated. However, some guests said they were not too surprised or bothered by this, given the price.

A handful of those who stayed said they experienced  noise from the other guests in the hotel, so perhaps take some earplugs if you are not a heavy sleeper.
