Hotel Silken Rio Santander (Santander, Spain)

The Silken Río is a beach destination with a four star rating located in Santander. It overlooks the spectacular Cantabrian Sea and is a short stroll away from several lovely beaches such as Sardinero Beach, Magdalena Beach and Carnello Beach. Other attractions are The University of Cantabria, two kilometres away, and the Santander Cathedral, around three kilometres away. A great source of entertainment is the Gran Casino which is close by. A bus stop close to the hotel can give guests rides to the centre of the city with regular frequency.

The 89 rooms at the hotel are elegant and stylish, and the furniture is of dark wood adding to the appeal. The bright, soundproofed rooms feature air conditioning, comfortable beds with fine feather duvets, satellite television, phone, large desk and a minibar. Bathrooms are private with ample space and facilities of magnifying mirrors, hair dryers and heated towel racks. Rooms are of six types and some rooms have balconies and watch points from where they can enjoy the sea views and feel the sea breeze.

The hotel caters to both business and guests travelling on leisure. There are conference rooms, a restaurant, bar and a deli. Special events like weddings can also be hosted at the hotel. The restaurant serves a modern cuisine amidst the lovely views of the sea. A large buffet breakfast is available at the breakfast room and the cafe is open all day for all meals, snacks and drinks. Free Wi-Fi and free parking facilities are available.

The elevator is very small in size.

The hotel maintenance needs to be given more importance as carpets and doors are dirty. The place generally looks uncared for and not worthy of four stars.

Wi-Fi network is very poor and sometimes not at all accessible.
