The communal rooms were complimented by many of the guests who described them as very elegant and brimming with old-world charm. The interior has retained a lot of original features such as the high ceilings and oak panelled walls. Many guests enjoyed spending time in the lounge with its comfortable arm chairs and cozy log fire.
Guests were pleased with the quality of the food whilst the menus were said to be extensive with lots of local dishes on offer. The meals were said to be well prepared and tasty whilst the portions were described as being very generous.
All of the staff at the hotel have been highly praised for their friendliness and efficiency. Guests said that they felt well looked after during their stay and that the staff couldn’t do enough for them in order to make their stay pleasant and comfortable.
Some guests said that they felt uncomfortably hot in the hotel and also objected to not being able to control the thermostat on the radiators in their rooms. Many were forced to open the windows in order to cool down their rooms which were described as hot and stuffy.
The hotel is quite a way away from the nearest shops and restaurants and some guests who wanted to dine out or walk to the nearest amenities were disappointed to find that they had to get in their cars in order to get to the nearest village.
The windows in some of the rooms have been described as quite old with many guests complaining that they rattled at night and also let in water when it rained.
