Sharrow Bay is situated right on the edges of Ullswater and because of that has spectacular views. Many guests have mentioned how this is the main draw of the hotel for them. Most of the hotel rooms have great views, and the dining room has also been designed around the view.
There have been lots of compliments about the food, from the evening meals on offer, to three course lunches and the breakfasts on offer. In particular the afternoon tea has made a very positive impression. There is a huge wine list and staff have been able to recommend wines to go with different dishes on the menu.
Sharrow Bay is a very traditional country house hotel. The lounge area is very comfortable and previous guests have said that it is an ideal place for them to relax, unwind and enjoy a pre or post dinner drink.
The hotel states that it has free Wi-Fi but this is only available in one public area of the hotel. This has led to some guests feeling frustrated when they have been unable to access it in their bedrooms.
The hotel does have some pet friendly rooms available, however some guests have felt disappointed that they have been charged extra to bring their pets with them.
Although Sharrow Bay is a high quality hotel many guests have felt that it is over-priced. With higher charges comes higher expectations and some past guests have felt that the two things don’t always match up here.
