Guests rave about the private beach access, and very much appreciate the complimentary lounge chairs, umbrellas, and towels. Kids of all ages enjoy collecting shells, and some early risers have spotted dolphins. The pool gets some shade in the early hours, but is otherwise sunny and well-kept. The grounds are nicely landscaped and feature a few well-placed hammocks.

Many guests give the front desk and wait staff high marks for their friendly, helpful, and professional customer service, often commenting on their smiling faces and willingness to "go the extra mile". The fresh coffee in the lobby is a welcoming gesture, and the tropical drinks at the poolside Tiki Bar are deliciously refreshing.

Though the hotel is older, the rooms are generally described as clean and well maintained, with comfortable furnishings and cheery, tropical decor. The microwaves and mini fridges are well appreciated practical touches.

Several guests were disappointed that the poolside Tiki Bar closes at dusk; as Sanibel Island is a wildlife sanctuary, exterior lights are not allowed near the beach at night.

Guests with mobility concerns or small children might want to request a ground floor room, as there are no elevators on the property, which has two floors. Others found the decor too dated, or did not care for the layout, which features room access via an outdoor walkway.

Some guests had unpleasant customer service experiences at the front desk or housekeeping oversights to report. Others were unimpressed that smoking is allowed in the common areas, particularly in the lounge area near the pool.
