Hotel San Marco City Resort & SPA (Verona, Italy)

If you’re in Verona during the Opera season, you’ll be happy to know that the hotel offers a free shuttle bus service to and from the Opera.

Guests also felt that the hotel is within easy walking distance, approximately 20-minutes, of the city centre. The walk is an easy and direct one along well paved streets. There is also a bus service outside the hotel which connects to the city centre and the train station.

The staff have been described as friendly, helpful, attentive and knowledgeable. You’ll be given a map of the city and assistance regarding directions or recommendations are freely provided.

The hotel seems to be in need of refurbishment and a more thorough clean. The decor is dated and the general appearance is one of disrepair. In some areas the carpets are dirty and appear to be stained. Some of the rooms are also small and also decked with outdated decor. Guests also complained that, for a 4-star hotel, in-room tea and coffee facilities should have been included.

Hotel San Marco is a little too far out from the city centre to be convenient for a leisurely holiday and city break. The city centre is approximately 30-minutes’ walk away, or a bus ride where the bus times are limited. You may need to hail a taxi in the evenings.

Spa services are provided at an additional cost, however treatments are not always available. Some guests would have liked to use only the swimming pool but felt the price was not worth it. Staff also need to forewarned before guests can use the spa, which is not always convenient.
