San Gallo is a traditionally-furnished Venetian hotel in the central San Marco district, just 50 metres from St. Mark’s Square on the Campo San Gallo. The 3-star hotel traces its origins back to the beginning of the 1800s, shares the square with the San Gallo Theatre and Oratorio San Gallo church, and is 500 metres from the Rialto Bridge. Each of the 12 rooms have a private shower bathroom, hairdryer, minibar/fridge, satellite TV, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi and direct-dial telephone. Guests are offered free access to the adjacent glassworks, as well as one on Murano, and ticket booking services are also available, including concert discounts. Breakfasts are served either on the top floor’s flowery terrace in summer, or in the dining room. San Gallo is about 17 minutes away from Venice Santa Lucia Station by a combination of the Grand Canal water bus and walking.

San Gallo was thought to be perfectly located for St. Mark’s Square, found on a small square just 50 metres away, within easy walking distance of the Rialto Bridge, water buses and all of Venice’s other central attractions.
The staff members here have been described as very friendly and proved particularly helpful, with good directions and information on the best spots to visit, whether touristic or low key.
Guests enjoyed starting their day on the rooftop terrace with a nice, simple breakfast including croissant, bread, cereals, cold meats and cheese. Most people found the offering to be sufficient, but others would have preferred a wider selection.
Guests occasionally found certain rooms at San Gallo to be too small for their liking, with a handful considering their quarters dark, dated and the air conditioning strength lacking.
The long entrance stairway was a challenge for some guests, and there is no lift inside, so be aware this is not the best place for those with masses of luggage or mobility issues.
A few guests considered the hotel hard to find, so make sure to take directions with you, but do not worry if you get a little lost; it is Venice.
