The Red Lion is ideally positioned to have views of both Carmathern Bay and Tenby Harbour. Many guests felt that enjoying these spectacular views was the highlight of their stay. It was mentioned it is worth requesting a room with a sea view.
There were many positive comments about the convenient location. Guests enjoyed the close proximity of the beach and other attractions. The short walk into Tenby town centre was also appreciated by many.
The front of house and bar staff in particular were noted to be very friendly and chatty. Several people who have stayed here previously liked the way even when busy staff would be happy to pass the time of day and answer any queries.
Unfortunately this hotel was considered below standard in terms of hygiene both in the communal areas and in the guest rooms. Dirty torn curtains, peeling wallpaper and grubby, stained carpets and mouldy shower curtains were all issues that put several guests off from returning.
This hotel was not generally considered to be good value for money in view of the amount of refurbishment and cleaning it would need to bring it up to an acceptable standard.
The dining experience here apparently left a lot to be desired. Portions were reported to be very small at breakfast and the menu at the café was considered to be uninspiring with the food arriving cold. Service was also felt to be slow and the Sunday lunch was a particular disappointment to many diners.
