This bed and breakfast reportedly benefited from a quiet position in a cul-de-sac just a short walk from the heart of the town centre for shopping, attractions, amenities and dining options as well as arts venues and museums. The surrounding Lake District National Park made a breathtaking backdrop for lovers of outdoor pursuits and the location proved to be a good base for access to Borrowdale and surrounding peaks like Skiddaw, Blencathra and Helvellyn. Drivers welcomed the proximity of main roads such as the A66 and A591for quick and easy access to beauty spots, lakes, the Cumbrian coast and Carlisle.
Guests appreciated the friendly and knowledgeable hosts and were often impressed with the filling and delicious full Cumbrian breakfasts featuring local meats and eggs plus fish options and home-made items like bread, granola and fruit compote.
Drivers could park outside the property overnight but due to restrictions had to move their cars during business hours or find alternative long-stay spaces in the town centre, which wasn't always ideal for some reviewers.
Several critics with large appetites claimed their cooked breakfast portions could have been more generous or claimed that the service was occasionally slow when the guest house was busy.
Although travellers welcomed the free Wi-Fi network, some claimed they encountered underwhelming speeds in some areas of the property.
