Hotel Rokin (Amsterdam, Netherlands)

Guests found Rokin to have a lovely facade, giving it that typical old-Amsterdam appearance, and the clean, comfortable rooms were found to offer good budget accommodation.

The staff members here proved very helpful with friendly service in highly fluent English, and those who stayed enjoyed the varied breakfast buffet. The presence of cooked options, as well as the normal Dutch continental fare was appreciated by many.

People found the location hard to beat, with shopping, restaurants and attractions like Dam Square, canal cruises and the Red Light District all easily reachable by foot, not to mention Amsterdam Centraal Station being ten minutes’ walk away.

While Rokin’s Wi-Fi does cover all areas, it was sometimes found to be a bit patchy on the 4th floor, and would sometimes disconnect without warning.

Guests mentioned that some noise is possible from the street, from building works and restaurants outside, so take some earplugs. In addition, there is no air conditioning, so in order to not feel uncomfortably hot in high summer weather you may have to leave the window open, inviting more noise.

For those looking to completely avoid the infamous Dutch stairs, keep in mind that the lift does not go all the way to the 4th floor, which could be good to know if you have bad mobility or stacks of luggage.
